3rd Belgian Multidisciplinary Meeting on Urological Cancers

Summary

Due to the success of last year, a third national Belgian Multidisciplinary scientific meeting on Urological Cancers was held with the cooperation of medical oncologists (BSMO), urologists (BAU) and radiation oncologists (ABRO/BVRO). It was a great opportunity to build bridges between these three important specialisms involved in the treatment of urological cancers.
The steering committee of the meeting consisted of J.P. Machiels, G. Pelgrims, S. Rottey (members of BSMO), L. Hoekx, S. Joniau, T. Roumeguere (members of BAU), O. De Hertogh, G. De Meerleer and Y. Neybuch (members of ABRO-BVRO). The third meeting, held in La Hulpe, Brussels on March 5th, 2016 was a great success with more than 100 attendees of the different specialisms involved.

Highlights from the 13th meeting of the EAU Section of Oncological Urology

The 13th meeting of the EAU Section of Oncological Urology took place in Warsaw in January 2016. The most important newcomers were the checkpoint inhibitors in metastatic renal cell carcinoma and in bladder cancer. Report from the 2015 Annual Meeting of the International Society of Geriatric Oncology (SIOG).
The 2015 Annual Conference of the International Society of Geriatric Oncology took place in Prague, Czech Republic from November 12–14th. More than 400 delegates with a special interest in the care for older patients with cancer attended this conference, including medical oncologists, geriatricians, surgeons, nurses and other professional health care workers. The meeting provided an overview of current advances in geriatric oncology domains.

Highlights from the 2015 San Antonio Breast Cancer Symposium

Summary

From the 8th till the 12th of December, San Antonio, TX was again transformed into the world’s capital in the fight against breast cancer. The 2015 CTRC-AACR San Antonio Breast Cancer Symposium (SABCS) was a joint presentation of the Cancer Therapy & Research Centre at the University of Texas Health Science Centre in San Antonio, the American Association for Cancer Research, and the Baylor College of Medicine. This years’ meeting drew more than 6,000 participants from all over the globe and again proved to be the number one breast cancer meeting in the world. This report will highlight seven key studies presented during the meeting.

Highlights from the 17th World Congress on Gastrointestinal Cancer

From July 1st till July 4th, Barcelona was host to the 17th world congress on gastrointestinal cancer. The meeting again proved to be the premier global event in the field, encompassing malignancies affecting every component of the gastrointestinal tract and aspects related to the care of patients with gastrointestinal cancer, including screening, diagnosis and the latest management options for common and uncommon tumours.
