SUMMARY

Breast cancer often metastasises to bone, lymph nodes, liver and lung. In this case report, we present a 75-year-old woman with a suspicious mammography and ultrasound of the breast who had a synchronous painless renal lesion. On computed tomography, the renal mass was suspected of being a primary lesion of the renal pelvis, but anatomopathological examination of the nephro-ureterectomy specimen revealed that it was a metastatic deposit of invasive lobular adenocarcinoma of the breast.

The Belgian Commission of Personalized Medicine has been created to advise the federal government on all matters related to personalised medicine in oncology, including the reimbursement of molecular tests. Here, we propose the Belgian strategy for molecular testing in the digestive tumours within a scientific-based framework. For each tested biomarker, a clinical test level is attached, which is key to establish the relevance of the test and to define the reimbursement. For each digestive tumour type, the different molecular tests are represented as decision trees with its test utility, test level and a brief technical test description.

Summary

During the 2016 ASCO Annual Meeting, a robust body of phase III trials was presented in the gastrointestinal (GI) oncology field, including updates and interesting post-hoc analyses. Once more, the early phase research was mainly focused on immunotherapy, with some promising results.
